It’s Never too Early or Late to Love Your Hair
Early hair loss needs stabilization and study as patterns take time to emerge. For people in their early 20s, Dr. Malhotra uses medications to slow the loss and monitor balding to identify the best donor and treatment areas. Typically hair transplants are not performed until the age of 25 or 26 so we can assess what areas of your donor will be permanent hairs.
Many patients have their first hair transplant in their late 20s or early 30s to address early hair loss and provide fullness to the frontal hairline and temporal areas. Younger patients typically have plentiful donor hair and recover quickly from hair restoration procedures. These cases typically involve 1400-1700 grafts. With longer hair in the back of 2 plus inches, a hidden donor technique can often be used.
Hair loss often becomes significant in the 40s and 50s as hormonal fluctuations cause increased loss and thinning. As balding areas become more visible, many patients seek medical assistance for their hair loss for the first time. Hair loss of 50% or more is common at this age.
Many patients in their 40s and 50s choose hair transplantation to restore a more youthful appearance. Dr. Malhotra and his team are experts in hair restoration and use the latest technologies in hair transplantation to recreate the appearance of fullness in central areas. If you had a hair transplant in your 20s or 30s, you may be ready for a second one in your 40s or 50s.
Many patients over 60 fear they are too late for hair restoration, but we have options available for them, too. Our goal is to create natural-looking enhancement for each patient. Dr. Malhotra will assess your hairline, donor area, and hair health to find solutions that target your concerns. These patients may require multiple procedures. Typically, these cases would be in the 2000 plus range of grafts.
